HUMANITIES NY AWARDS GRANT TO DEAR

- HUMANITIES NY AWARDS GRANT TO DEAR

The Penfield Recreation Department’s Daytime Education at Recreation Program (DEAR) has received a Reading and Discussion grant from Humanities NY for the fall of 2018. This season’s theme is The Aging Brain: Neuroplasticity and Lifelong Learning. France McCloskey will facilitate this fascinating free discussion on Mondays, September 17 through October 29, 1:30-3:00PM at Penfield Community Center, 1985 Baird Rd.
For the first time in human history adults 50 and older are in a unique position to understand the new waves of scientific information relating to the aging brain, perhaps delaying the onset of age-related concerns. The field of neuroscience research is exploding, but the people who can benefit have very little understanding of the vocabulary of brain science or how it applies to their own lives.
The resources for this series will be approachable material, breaking down the elevated language and theories, and will create an opportunity to explore the many ways in which we should be using our brains throughout our human lifetime.
This program is free but registration is required. Penfield residents may register beginning September 5 and non-residents September 12. Registration is available online at webtrac.penfield.org. Please call 340-8664 for more information.
This program is co-sponsored by the Penfield Public Library.
